This $110 million replacement hospital is 640,000 sf, contains 337- beds, and occupies 30 acres of a 120 acres site. U.S. Engineering and SSM Industries, Inc. were selected as mechanical team members on this exclusive project and performed the complete mechanical package including HVAC, sheet metal, ATC, plumbing, medical gases and fire protection work. U.S. Engineering was involved in the early design stages with a negotiated fee contract to provide preconstruction and construction services and establish a Guaranteed Maximum Price for the mechanical scope. Our preconstruction services included: assisting in schedule development; reviewing of design development documents, to address constructibility; value engineering; comparative cost/ benefit analysis; estimates based on progress design development drawings; and development of cash flow analysis for construction duration. Our participation in preconstruction with the project team allowed us to reduce our GMP and provide savings to the owner, as well as finishing construction two months ahead of schedule.
