At SSM Industries, Inc., a culture of safety is more than a slogan. Our main goal is to keep our people and the environments in which they work, safe and healthy. The entire organization, starting with the President, is committed to ensuring every employee returns home to their family safely every night. Effective leadership is just the beginning, as every employee at SSM Industries, Inc. is tasked with taking personal ownership of his or her safety and the safety of others.
Monthly safety meetings are conducted by executive management and are attended by staff and field representatives. Incidents are reviewed in detail, along with identifying hazards, training needs, and strategic safety planning.
The Safety Committee realizes the input of employees is invaluable. The committee is represented by members of Plumbers Local 27, Steamfitters Local 449, Sheet Metal Workers Local 12, and Laborers Local 373.
Safety toolbox talks and Site Safety Inspections are conducted every week at every jobsite. We encourage open dialogue about working conditions and we require pre-planning for job activities. It is this proactive approach that helps us identify and correct potential hazards and keeps our employees out of harms way
SSM Industries, Inc. conducts specialized, ongoing Safety Training for our employees. All project managers, superintendents and Foremen have at least OSHA 10 hour training, and the majority are OSHA 30 hour trained
