This 12-story, 700,000 square foot hospital was built as a world class advanced outpatient pediatric care facility. SSM fabricated and installed over 1,000,000 pounds of ductwork in this facility. Buerger Center houses exam room and diagnostic treatment areas as well as lobby, retail and amenity spaces, all served by ductwork risers starting in a two-story mechanical penthouse. In addition, there was a significant expansion to the existing central utility plant. We began with 60% design documents and worked closely with the project team to review constructability, evaluate VE options, and complete the system layouts and design. The special geometry and structure of this facility created unique opportunities in sketching, coordination and eventually the successful fabrication and installation of the ductwork systems. This project was LEED Silver certified.
