The Grand View Pavilion is a 6-floor, 190,000 square foot addition, connecting to the existing hospital building. SSM was awarded the core and shell work as well as fit-out of all floors (2 fit-out floors were an add to the base contract). The new project has over 325,000 pounds of ductwork, including nearly 30,000 pounds of stainless-steel ductwork. There is a new emergency department with treatment rooms and trauma bays. In addition to patient rooms, there are 10 new operating suites, five are general operating rooms and five are hybrid ORs. The exhaust and lighting systems for these ORs are incorporated into prefabricated ceiling modules which were purchased by SSM. We worked with the engineer, CM and owner to select the right manufacturer and the correct accessories for these modular systems. SSM has taken receipt of these modular ceiling systems and is currently installing them in place. Each OR is a stand-alone system with its own AHU. The top floor of this addition is dedicated to the mechanical equipment. This is small space relative to the amount of fans, AHUs, ductwork and other mechanical systems packed into this floor. Coordination was a challenge in the mechanical room but, with SSM taking the lead, all trades found their place.
